Export and sharing
The content of the files created during a download is defined by legislation. These are standard binary files that cannot be displayed on their own. However, various reports can be generated from the data stored in them, and those are easy to display. The app lets you share both the downloaded files and the reports. However, once shared, the downloaded files can only be opened with special programs made for this purpose.
Exporting reports (PDF / Excel)
You will find the export icon in the header of most reports. First you need to select the file type, then the period:
- Pdf — a formatted, printable Adobe Acrobat Reader document;
- Excel — a tabular Excel (csv) file. The csv cell separator (comma/semicolon) can be set in Settings.
Once the report has been generated, you can choose how to share it:
- Open — open the file with one of the apps available on your device (phone/tablet)
- Copy to file — save it to the file system of your device (phone/tablet), from where you can share it yourself later
- Share (eMail ...) — send it by e-mail or share it with another app (WhatsApp, Drive, etc.)
Sharing downloaded (raw) files
Tapping an item in the Archive opens a window where you will find the sharing options:
- Copy to file — save it to the file system of your device (phone/tablet), from where you can share it yourself later
- Share (eMail ...) — send it by e-mail or share it with another app (WhatsApp, Drive, etc.)
The raw file (.ddd etc.) is not an Excel file, not a PDF, not a Word document and not an image, but a standard binary tachograph file whose content is defined by legislation. These are the files you must keep for one year and hand over to the authorities during an inspection. Opening them requires a special tachograph analysis program.
Automatic e-mail after downloading
If you enable the Automatic send after reading function in Settings, the file will be sent automatically to the configured email address after every successful download. This message, which contains the downloaded raw file as an attachment, is sent via our server, so the sender will not be you but the noreply@driver-card-reader.com (LobolTeam Server). This email address does not receive messages, so you will not be informed of any reply sent by the recipient.
The fact that the email was successfully forwarded to our server does not mean that the recipient will actually receive it. Various errors can occur during delivery. It may turn out, for example, that you entered an incorrect email address, the recipient's mailbox is full, or the recipient's firewall rejected the message. You will usually get feedback about these errors quickly, if the cause can be identified right away. But it can also happen that you are only notified a few hours later, once repeated delivery attempts have failed.
